These three simple tips were GAME CHANGERS for me:
- Have A Plan
Seriously can’t stress this enough. For a productive study session, you can not go into it cold turkey. You must have a list of things you wish to accomplish. For example, having “Study Physics, then Calculus” on your to-do list is not setting yourself up for success.
Instead, try something like the following:
4:00pm – 4:30 pm Physics – R
ead pages 237 – 256, Magnetic Flux Density
4:45pm – 5:30pm Calculus III – Read/Take notes on Chapter 11.4, Greens Theorem
The key is to have a time frame and a specific goal. This will help start you with a productive mindset and a clear vision of your objective.
- Eat Healthy
Needless-to-say, your diet will have a huge effect on your mood, mindset, focus, productivity, and efficiency. Your brain wants to help you be the best you can be, but you have help IT help YOU. Apples with yogurt and granola is one of my favorite study snacks.
- Write down wondering thoughts
I have a wondering mind that wants me to put attention to random thoughts. For some reason, I always wonder what deals I can find on Amazon when I am studying, or what type of African frog loses its breath the fastest on Tuesdays versus Thursdays (I get bored easily). A fix for this is to quickly spend five seconds jotting down the thought so that you can return to it during your study break.
